Cael Wantland hits for two on a fast break
against Mtn. Grove in the seventh grade game.
On Monday, Dec. 10, the Junior High Wildcats fought a tough battle against the Mtn. Grove Panthers. The eighth grade Panthers came back after the Wildcats took a 19-13 half-time lead. At the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats were down by one, 23-24. With 39 seconds remaining, it looked like the Wildcats would pull out a win, but the Panthers hit a three point shot at the 26-second mark to tie it up and send the game into overtime. The Wildcats hit two free throws in overtime, but it wasn’t enough to nail down the win. The final score was 35-38.
The seventh grade Wildcats fared better against Mtn. Grove. They scored a decisive 54-29 win over the Panthers.
The Junior High Wildcats faced Mtn. View/Liberty on Dec. 13. They split the games again, this time with the eighth grade winning 43-37 and the seventh grade losing, 30-42.
