Delmar Duane Scott,
80, of Rogersville passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at Cox Medical Center
South.
Duane was born
December 30, 1938 in Licking, the son of the late Delmar and Opal (Lemmons)
Scott. He was united in marriage on May 26, 1963 in Ozark to Sally Jane
Whittington.
He was preceded in
death by two brothers; Glen and Dean Scott; and a sister, Cleo Wells.
Duane was an Ag teacher
for many years at Birch Tree and Ozark schools. He worked 21 years for Federal
Land Bank before retiring as President. His passion was horses, especially
Missouri Fox Trotters and Quarter horses. He was a member and certified judge
of the AQHA, NCHA and MFTHBA. Duane enjoyed going to cuttings, cleaning stalls,
brushing Sally’s horse, basketball, eating breakfast with his buddies and
buying and selling cattle with his son, Daniel. He will be greatly missed by
his family and many friends.
He is survived by
his wife, Sally; a son, Daniel Scott; a daughter, Sara Inman and her husband,
Mark. Three sisters; Betty Kirkman, Doris Lay and June Marion and her husband
Gerald; a brother, Gene Scott and his wife Rosalie; six grandchildren, Katy
Beth and her husband Dustin, Zack Scott and his wife Haley, Joshua, Jeremy and
Jordan Inman and Jacob Scott; two great-granddaughters, Ella Jane Taylor and
Sady Lee Taylor; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation and
gathering of family and friends was held from 6 -8 p.m. Tue. January 8 at J.D.
Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville.
In lieu of flowers
the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
