John Paul Alers

John Paul Alers was born December 16, 1961 and departed this life February 5, 2019 in Conroe, Tex. after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Fred; his father, Bill; and his mother, Eve.
He leaves behind his sister, Vicky Anderson, with her husband, Andy; sister of the heart, Bonita Alers; niece, Debbie Yates with her husband, Mark; great-nephews, Tony, Toby and Tyler Yates; brother Russell and special friend, Keith Popp.
John Paul was a renaissance man. From the time he was born, he was building or taking apart things. His treehouse was the best and a great place to hide out after taking Mom’s vacuum cleaner apart.
In high school he was in band and drama; acting and singing in several productions.
He worked with his hands his entire life. He was a mechanic, welder, construction worker, logger and builder. Even after losing his legs to disease he still tinkered on things or consulted problems over the phone.
John loved to cook and sing, build and restore. He was quick and sharp, funny and loving.
His family and friends are broken-hearted at his passing.
A memorial is planned for his friends in Conroe and Missouri at a later date.
Donations can be made online to The Prosthetic Foundation in Tex. or the Dialysis Center in Conroe, Tex.
