Fifth and sixth grade science fair

By Marie Lasater

Students in the fifth and sixth grades at Licking Elementary School had the opportunity to demonstrate progress in both science and literature last Wednesday night at the Science and Literature Fairs, held in the elementary cafeteria and several of the classrooms.

In Mrs. Blackburn’s room, a video made by Mrs. Blackburn with the help of her class was softly playing the song “Five More Minutes,” by Scotty McCreery. The video included touching vignettes submitted by the students about the people with whom they would most like to spend five more minutes.

Mrs. Blackburn and her students created a video called “5 More Minutes,” with permission granted by country music artist Scotty McCreery to set the video to his music.

The cafeteria held the Literature Fair, and was filled with display boards, showing each students critique and analysis of the parts of the book they selected. Other classrooms held science displays, ranging in topics from Biology, Consumer Science, Physical Science, and Human Body, to Sports/Ballistics/Outdoor and Motion.
