Senior Center Happenings

By Cynthia Wampner Why don't you come and join us for breakfast Monday through Friday? Made to order for a donation. The doors open 6:00 am. Plan to come sometime. I was gone 3 days last week to the MPTA Conference in Springfield. And since Marilyn Cantrell went with me, we had to put someone in charge. So Ken Hollenbeck was there to do breakfast and Dot Pursiful was in charge of the rest of the volunteers, and did a great job. And to all the volunteers who made this work, I thank you. While I was at the conference, ...

By Cynthia Wampner The building shower was a huge success. There was an ice cream sundae bar for all those in attendance. A big variety of items were brought in by different ones. Games were played, and Dorothy Lotz won a roll of tax deductible toilet paper. If you would still like to donate to the new building, just bring it in during regular business hours. The carpet and tile will be delivered on Friday, and hopefully will be installed by the middle of next week. Mary Wrest is decorating the dining room in the new building and doing a ...

By Cynthia Wampner Is this hot weather worth talking about? Hopefully, we will get some rain soon and cool things down a little. Well it looks like we need to change our opening date to a little later, because the flooring was a little more than expected. Maybe sometime in September may be better. Hopefully it will be a little cooler. I will let you know more next week. We are having our building shower on Thursday, August 3 at 1 p.m. Bring anything you want for the new building and lets have some fun. Everyone is welcome to attend ...

Well, made it back home this week from Colorado. Meanwhile, back at the senior center, it seemed as though Marilyn Cantrell had everything and everyone all lined out. I believe they were having a lot of fun while I was away. Please remember that on August 3 we will be having our building shower at 1 p.m. Bring an item for the new senior center and have some fun. So far we will keep our scheduled goal of August 19 for our grand opening. It looks like the flooring committee is headstrong about getting the floors done. Then the cabinets ...

By Cynthia Wampner The Fourth of July was a very short week at the center, since we took off Monday and Tuesday. There were about 13 of us working in the new building on those days. On Thursday the gutter pros hung the guttering, and that looks really good. Reggie and Lonnie Ward painted a couple floors on Thursday evening and that also turned out good. Folks we have a goal of August 19th, and we could use some door painters if you feel like it. If you would like to donate anything at all, come see us at 116 ...

By Cynthia Wampner Well, it's hard to believe we sold almost 100 fried pies at Intercounty Electric picnic. Reggia Ward and Marilyn Cantrell worked some very long hours to get them ready in time for the picnic. Special thanks to Rosie Nabity and Ann Liebert and Nancy Bueltman for taking care of the booth. We were glad to have Shirley Parker and her sister  Hazel Wade come to visit us on Thursday. It was really nice to see them. By the time you get this week’s newspaper the interior doors will be hung and swinging. Brown Heating and Cooling turned ...

By Cynthia Wampner Hello to everyone from all of us at the Licking Senior Center. Thanks to the community for supporting the Ping Pong a Thon and fish fry. And even to all of those folks who live in all the other 49 states that Eugene Maxey recruited. With all of that we raised,     over $5500.00, I do believe if we could raise about $15,000.00 more, we could be in this new building possibly by the end of August. Everyone seems to be getting more excited as the days go by. But we will keep trying till it happens. I ...
