Fresh off a Frisco League Tournament victory on Saturday, the Lady ‘Cats hosted the Houston Lady Tigers Monday night at the Sherman Hill Fieldhouse. The girls used speed, depth and aggression to blitz the Lady Tigers from the opening tip. Man and zone pressure were used in the full and half-court to force several Houston turnovers. Licking would go into halftime ahead by 30, and they cruised to a 64-24 victory.
Licking was led by Karlee Holland with 25 points and 11 steals. Kiley Ingram added 10 points, Lexi Hadix and Athena Hood both scored 7. Abby Moncrief had 6 points and 5 boards. Anna Sullins finished with 4 points and 5 steals. Lainy Hadix added 3 points, Kylie Taylor 4 assists and 4 steals, and Kasey Richards 2 points.
“Our pressure got to Houston early and often. They had a game plan to try and isolate their good post on Kylie Taylor on the backside of our 1-3-1 zone, but she did a good job of walling up and holding her ground. We have the rest of the week off to prep for Richland and Steelville,” stated Coach Rissler.
