The Licking Lady Wildcats opened up Frisco League play Monday night as they hosted the Richland Lady Bears. Licking came out strong, jumping to a 17-4 lead midway through the first quarter.
Turnovers and missed point-blank shots over the next 14 minutes would allow the Lady Bears to come all the way back and tie the game at 26 early in the third quarter. The next four minutes would be all Lady Cats as they went on a 20-0 run to put the game out of reach for the young Lady Bears. Karlee Holland got the ball rolling with two free throws. Kylie Taylor then went to work, getting several steals that led to scores or free throws. Lainy Hadix hit a deep three in transition and made a layup off a Holland steal. Richland would hit a late three to make the score 46-29 heading in to the fourth quarter.
The pace slowed in the fourth and LHS cruised to a 56-38 Frisco League win.
Holland led with 19 points, 5 rebs, and 5 steals. Taylor added 13 points, 4 rebs, and 3 assists. Abby Moncrief added 5 points, 8 rebs; Lainy Hadix 7 points; Kiley Ingram 7 points; and Anna Sullins 3 points.
