Sawyer arrested for drugs and unlawful use of weapon

 Submitted by Sheriff Scott Lindsey
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on January 10, 2019, Texas County deputies on patrol contacted a subject with a stalled vehicle on Farrell Lane north of Raymondville. A search of the driver and vehicle led to the discovery of controlled substances. The substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine, was packed in individual bags, a manner consistent with distribution. Drug paraphernalia and a .45 caliber pistol were also located during the search.
The driver, Zachariah T. Sawyer, age 20 of Houston, was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail. Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Sawyer with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon. Sawyer was held in the Texas County jail pending bond of $150,000.
The above charges are mere accusations are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
