The Wildcats played their last home game on Friday night against the visiting Richland Bears. Both teams entered the game with a perfect 5-0 record in Frisco League play and there was a big crowd full of a loud Licking student section on hand to watch the game. Licking had eight seniors that were recognized for Senior Night before the game: G.T. Nicholson, James Swan, Connor Medlock, Evan Mitchell, Michael Milhizer, Carter Rinne, Kaden Quick and Sara Taber. Nicholson was also presented with a ball for reaching the 1,000 point milestone earlier in the season.
The Wildcats wasted no time jumping out to an early lead over the Bears. Kaden Quick connected on three 3-pointers in the first period to help Licking build an 18-8 lead by the end of the quarter. The Bears kept pace with the Wildcats in the second but were not able to cut into the lead at all. Both teams scored 9 points in the frame to give Licking a 27-17 lead as they entered the half. G.T. Nicholson came alive in the third quarter to score 10 points and help stretch the lead to 17 points. Now the Wildcats were up 42-25 with only one period remaining. Richland was able to put more points on the board but Licking matched them and went on to an eventual 63-25 victory.
Nicholson led the Wildcats with 19 points, followed by Milhizer with 11, Swan 11, Quick 9, Wilson Murray 8, Medlock 4 and Levi Cantrell 1. Rinne, Mitchell, Garrett Duncan, Kaleb Keaton, Landon Medlock and Blake Payne also played. The win put Licking’s record at 21-3 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in league play. Licking also finished with a perfect 7-0 season record on their home floor.
