Fatal Air Plane Crash

The wreckage at the scene of a plane crash that sadly took the life of the pilot.

  On March 6, 2019 at approximately 7:16 AM Texas County Emergency Services (911) received a report of a plane crash in field on Bethel Drive in the Summersville area.  Officers from the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Firefighters from the Summersville Fire Department responded to the scene. 
  Upon arrival at the scene, responders discovered a single engine plane with one occupant, the pilot.  The pilot was pronounced deceased at scene by Texas Coroner Marie Lasiter.  The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be conducting an investigation into the crash.
  The plane was identified as a 1963 Piper Cherokee 180.  Items located at the scene identified the pilot as Robert F. Torp age 64, of Springfield, Mo.  The family of Mr. Torp has been notified.  The aircraft is registered to a different subject from Newport, Virginia.
