Claude W. Dickins, Jr, 72, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 22, 2019, at his home in Licking.
He leaves his wife of thirty years, Amy (Mooney) Dickens; his son, Wayne and daughter, Teresa, both of Virginia; his step-children, who were like his own, Debbie Harris and husband Alan of North Carolina, Steve Whitby and wife Manny of Arizona, and Karen Miller and husband James of Missouri; his sister, Nita DeJarnette and husband Albert (Sonny) of Virginia; two nephews, Bruce and Brent; six grandchildren, Angel Belcher, Jamie Wood, Matthew Groh, Tessa Radmer, Scott Miller, and Casidy Huff; several great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. C.W. was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two nephews.
He was born March 1, 1947, to Claude and Doris (Taylor) Dickens. He was born and raised in Richmond, VA.
On December 2, 1966, he joined the Army as an Army specialist. He served until September 1, 1972. He was an active Army Reserve member from July 2, 1972, to October 12, 1983. He was stationed at Ft. Ritchie, Md.
After being discharged from the Army, he moved to Hickory, N.C. This is where he met his loving wife, Amy, in 1987. The two were wed on December 16, 1989, in Stoney Point, N.C.
C.W. and Amy lived in North Carolina for ten years before moving to Licking in 1999.
C.W. was a truck driver for over thirty years. He loved traveling to different cities and states and loved bringing home gifts and stories for his grandchildren.
C.W. enjoyed his time on this earth. He loved all his family and friends and cherished the wonderful memories he had with them.
Most importantly, he loved the Lord with all his heart. We know he is walking hand in hand with our Lord Jesus and enjoying what he talked so much about. He would say, “If you could only see me now.”

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church with Erin McConnell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 service time. Cremation and services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
