Several braved the mist of a cool spring morning for G-Ma Pam’s Rack Pack’s Superhero 5K Fun Run & Walk. The event, which began at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Licking High School parking lot, was a fundraiser to support the local cancer superheroes. One hundred percent of funds raised will go directly to help with expenses cancer patients face during their fight, including food, gas money, travel costs for treatment, and other costs not covered by insurance.
Prizes were given at the Superhero 5K for first place male and female, individual and team best-dressed. First place finish female and overall went to Kaitlyn Baker. First place finish male was Colby Satterfield, who was running in memory of his father, Lee Satterfield, who died this year due to cancer.
Several dressed up in their superhero best for the event. Individual best costume went to Melissa Beasley, and the team best-costumes winner was Andrew and Kristie Bulen, Cayde, and Kylee.
Danny and Michelle Howell helped put on the race. They wanted to return to the community some of the support they received during their cancer fight. They are an example of how G-Ma Pam’s Rack Pack unites the community to help those fighting the deadly disease.
If you missed the event, don’t worry. The October Annual G-Ma Pam’s Walk for Life and Craft Fair has been scheduled for October 5 this year. The Rack Pack will see you then.
