PLATO — The Licking Wildcats closed out the regular season on the road with a 13-6 win over the Plato Eagles on Tuesday night, May 7.
In a contest switched to Plato because of field conditions, Licking jumped Plato with three first inning runs. Seth Farris keyed the inning with a 2-run double.
The Wildcats built an 8-1 advantage at the end of four innings. Plato rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth with Hayden Smith delivering a three-run home run.
Licking regained control with five tallies in the sixth and finished off the Eagles for their 13th victory of the spring. The Wildcats used four pitchers in their final tune up before the district tournament.
Wilson Murray started and went three innings. He gave one run on three hits and struck out four. Carter Rinne pitched the fourth and fifth frames and was charged with four runs, three earned, on three hits.
Gideon Antle allowed a hit and a run in the sixth, and Hunter Krewson worked a scoreless seventh. Regardless of the pitcher, the Wildcats produced plenty of run support.

LICKING — On senior night at Licking, three senior Wildcat pitchers combined to no-hit the Richland Bears for a 13-0 Licking victory.
Connor Medlock started for Licking and worked the first two innings. Medlock faced the minimum and fanned five.
Michael Milhizer pitched the third and fourth innings, struck out four and walked two. Cainan Hutsell struck out the side in the fifth.
While the Wildcat hurlers were hanging zeros, the offense was providing plenty of run support. Licking scored three runs in the first, four in the second, four in the third, and tacked on two in the fourth.
