On May 11, 2019, at 1:47 a.m., a Licking officer responded to a Licking business in reference to an assault which took place at a Maple Street residence earlier in the evening. During the course of the investigation, it was determined Kory Nelson, 25, of Licking, struck Slater Yoakum, 26, of Licking, in the face with a metal object, causing serious physical injuries to Yoakum.
Yoakum sought medical attention via Texas County Memorial Hospital EMS. Nelson was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail, where he was held on a twenty-four hour hold, pending the application of an arrest warrant.
A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Texas County Prosecutor’s Office seeking formal charges for 2nd Degree Assault.
The above information is just a mere accusation, and is not evidence of guilt.  Evidence in support of any charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
