Early Thursday morning, citizens of Licking gathered at the Fox Fire Station Community Room for the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. Pastor Erin McConnell of Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church opened the breakfast with prayer.
Numerous pastors and members of the community spoke at the breakfast. Tammy Intyre offered a song and her testimony after the opening prayer. Licking Christian Church’s Pastor Rick Mosher; Pastor Robert Lilly of First Baptist Church; Pastor Meri Wrest and husband Larry Wrest, Ministry of Helps, of Destiny Worship Center; Warren Livingston of Freewill Baptist Church; Betsy Black; and Brad Wynn also spoke at the event. Pastor McConnell asked attendees to gather around Mayor Keith Cantrell then led a special prayer.
Renee Keaton, Barbara Rodgers and Deanna Sparks served the delicious breakfast, cooked by Marilyn Cantrell and Cindy Wampner. Cleanup was assisted by Donnie Trout, Larry Ogden, and Colton Sullivan.
Keaton observed that attendance was up this year, which is a positive for the city. This involvement in city government by the community may have increased due to the recent bond issues vote and the upcoming water infrastructure improvements. But, regardless of the cause for the increased interest, it will serve to make the City of Licking better and is welcomed by city officials.
