Domestic Assault

Submitted by Sheriff Scott K. Lindsey

On June 23 at approximately 1:26 p.m. a Texas County deputy was dispatched to Nevill Rd. in the Mtn. Grove area for a report of a domestic assault. A female victim reported that a male had assaulted her and struck her with a metal broom. The female was treated for her injuries at Texas County Memorial Hospital. The responding deputy observed evidence at the residence that supported the reported assault. The deputy observed the suspect, James Martin, driving on Nevill Rd. A traffic stop was initiated, and Martin was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail.
Asst. Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Macpherson charged James T. Martin, age 36, of Mtn. Grove with Domestic Assault First Degree. Martin is held in the Texas County Jail pending $750,000 bond.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
