Drug Arrest

Submitted by Sheriff Scott K. Lindsey

On June 20 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Texas County deputy on patrol observed a vehicle failing to drive on the right half of the roadway on Hwy. B in the Raymondville area. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as James Hart. The deputy performed field sobriety tests on Hart and conducted a pat down search of his person. During the search the deputy located a syringe and bag containing a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Hart was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail.
Asst. Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Macpherson charged James Hart, age 58, of Raymondville with possession of a controlled substance. Hart is held in the Texas County Jail pending $150,000 bond.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
