First Baptist Church of Edgar Springs went “Into the Wild” for Vacation Bible School this past week. Fifty-nine children attended, and each evening was packed with fun, food, and learning about Jesus. A delicious meal started each evening, feeding an average of over 50 kids each night. Our motto for the week was “Zoom In! Focus on Jesus,” so each night the kids discovered different “snapshots” of the life of Jesus.
Each year we have the girls compete against the boys to see who can bring the most coins, by weight, that will then be given to the Baptist Children’s Home as part of our mission for the week. Our second mission opportunity for the kids is collecting certain items each night for our hygiene kits that we put in our Operation Christmas Child boxes. This year they ended the week with over 30-pounds of change and enough hygiene items to put together about 30 OCC boxes.
The children also enjoyed learning songs, making crafts, and yes, having fun at recreation time. We ended the week with “Parent Night” so the parents could come and experience just a little of what their child had been doing all week. As always it was exciting to see so many children bringing their parents and talking about what a great week they had learning about Jesus.
