Friday began the Texas County Library Licking Branch’s Summer Reading Program. Twenty-two children and parents filled the library, eager to register and begin the program. On the agenda for this week was reading and making alien craft, fitting the theme of “It’s a universe of stories.”
The program is for children age four to twelve, and everyone who completes the program will have their name entered into a drawing for prizes which will be awarded at the end of the program. The top prizes are two bicycles, one for a girl and one for a boy, donated by Landmark Bank. Other prizes include gift certificates and items purchased with donations from local sponsors/supporters. Local businesses and groups who made the Summer Reading Program possible include: Intercounty Electric, Hatch Insurance, Fox Funeral Home, Triplett’s Package Store, Dunky's Ice Cream, Rinne's Tire Pros, Mercy Pharmacy, Casey's General Store, and the Friends of the Library group. Several Branson area attractions also donated gift certificates as prizes.
