Domestic Assault

On July 16, a female victim came to the Sheriff’s Office and reported being assaulted by her spouse at a residence on Beeler Road in the Cabool area. The victim stated on the morning of July 16 her husband, Calvin Cornelius, had threatened to slit her throat. The victim stated Cornelius then grabbed her by the hair and produced a knife. The victim stated the threats continued for a short period and then he released her. The victim stated she then fled the residence and went to her place of employment. The victim’s children were also present when the assault occurred. Cornelius was located by Texas County deputies at the residence and arrested.            
Calvin C. Cornelius, age 33, of Cabool was transported to the Texas County Jail. Cornelius was charged with Kidnapping, Domestic Assault 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Texas County Asst. Prosecuting Attorney Jason Macpherson. Cornelius was held in the Texas County Jail pending bond of $1,000,000.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
