James C. Lingo, Jr.

James C. Lingo, Jr. of Licking, Mo. was born October 14, 1928 to James C. Lingo, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Sudheimer) Lingo at Evening Shade, Mo. and passed away July 3, 2019 at Texas County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 90.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nadine; and his wife, Pauline.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Irene, of the home; his sister, Mabel Steward and brother, Norman Lingo, both of Evening Shade; his daughters, Betty (David) Lewis of Springfield; Margye (Larry) Crocker of Jefferson City; son David Lingo of Okla.; step-sons Terry (Sandra) Robertson, Mark (Judy) Robertson, Curt (Brenda) Robertson, all of Licking; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He retired from the Fort Leonard Wood Fire Department and served in the Army. He spent his life farming and enjoyed being outdoors.
He could always be seen driving a Ford pickup and loved to turkey hunt.
He, Irene, and his sister, Mabel, took many trips and enjoyed touring the United States.
His favorite past-times included attending gospel music singings, Cardinal baseball, gardening, raising beef cattle, baling hay, fishing, and hunting. He always had a story to tell about the one that got away.
He was saved at an early age and was baptized by his stepson, Terry, later in life.  The last 34 years of his life he attended his country church, Palace Union Church, where he happily served any way he could.
Visitation was at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Palace Union Church, followed by services at 2:00 p.m. with Wesley Wallace officiating, under the direction of Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Palace Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Darren Lewis, Shae Cunningham, Cy Robertson, Brad Robertson, Shannity Robertson, Tyler Robertson, and Andy Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Robertson, Isaac Robertson, and Troy Robertson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Palace Cemetery. Mail contributions in care of Fox Funeral Home, PO Box 185, Licking, MO  65542.
