The cookie table was a popular place. The kitchen volunteers and one of the greeters were: seated in front from left: Geraldine Thornhill, Olen Gibson, Wilma Smith, Tracy Mendenhall (standing); and in back from left: Darlene Marvel and Caroline Carrigan.

Boone Creek Baptist Church held its annual school supply give-away Friday, and provided bags of school supplies to 95 or more students in the Licking School District.
Jennifer Smith tracked how many children passed through for the supplies and for the picnic supper provided by the many volunteers present for the event. Smith estimated they average close to 100 children each year. Any supplies they have left after the give-away will be taken to the teachers of the Licking School District to distribute as needed to students.
Volunteers handed out bags of supplies sorted by class, and members of the Gideons offered small Bibles as well. There was no shortage of tasty looking cookies available, and children must certainly have been eager to collect them.
This annual event is truly a blessing to families who struggle to buy a long list of school supplies for their children in addition to the many other costs related with preparing for the return to school.
