Police Department
On the
evening of August 8, 2019, K9 Loki was discovered seizing in his kennel, at his
handler’s residence. A short time later K9 Loki was deceased. K9 Loki’s body
was transported to the University of Missouri - Columbia's Veterinary Medical
Diagnostic Laboratory where an autopsy was performed. On August 20, 2019, this
office received the results from the autopsy. The cause of death was unsubstantiated
but believed to have been the result of overheating of the body, caused from
prolonged seizing.
Our
department and community lost a great asset and I am personally heart broken,
as are all the members of the department, with the loss of K9 Loki. K9 Loki
will be missed by all who knew him.
There
was no indication of foul play or mistreatment discovered in the investigation.
