Local bakery, My Little Cupcake is a top contender in a nationwide contest for the “Sweetest Bakery in America.” Voting started July 1 and will end September 30. There will be three winners in each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. As of press deadline, My Little Cupcake was ranked number 1 in the state of Missouri for Cake/Cupcake Shops. There are two other categories, Full Line Bakeries and Donut Shops.
In addition to the scrumptious cupcakes, cakes, cookies and cheesecake made by Sullins; pie by Robertson Rocky Ridge Farm is also available.
It is not just the sweets that lure patrons in on Saturdays, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.; quiche, soups and sandwiches are also served. While some are standards, the menu is subject to delicious change. All items are wonderful when accompanied by the gourmet coffees and teas that are available by the cup or glass, but also prepackaged for take home enjoyment. The fresh squeezed lemonade is a hit during the hot summer months. During the month of August, lemonade sales contribute to the local cancer fundraising, G’Ma Pam’s Rack Pack, organization.
Special orders of baked goods are available and keep Sullins busy through the week. Sullins also holds special events and decorating opportunities for the community. Mrs. Claus and her elves were at the shop for Christmas 2018 and special “decorating” parties can be held by appointment.
“Baking and decorating are a perfect way for me to display my creativity,” says Sullins.
Sullins has a great love for family and for baking with her four granddaughters, therefore the name My Little Cupcake was a natural. Indispensable help in the shop are daughter, Lynsey Sullins Peterson and son, Ben Sullins. Erica Jones, cheerful and efficient front counter attendant, is a perfect fit in the family-oriented business. Throughout the day on Saturday, it is an inviting and friendly place to stop in for breakfast or lunch and visit with friends, old and new.
Tammy Sullins opened her cupcake shop on rodeo weekend, May 31, 2018. This was after Sullins and her husband, Rick, completed a major restoration/remodel of the facility on Green Street.
With the help of local craftsmen this summer, a pavilion was added to the back of the shop, where special occasions are already being celebrated. Currently being seasoned for use is a wood-fired pizza oven. Plans are in the works for serving pizza and having live entertainment in the future.
“Everyone’s votes are greatly appreciated to keep My Little Cupcake number one in Missouri, as well as the consistent and local support of the cupcake shop,” expressed Sullins.
