(HOUSTON) -- Congratulations to the Jake Sheppard family of Cabool who are the 2019 Texas County Farm Family. The Sheppard family was recognized by the University of Missouri Texas County Extension Center and the Farm Bureau during the Fair on Saturday, July 27. The presentation was made by the University of Missouri Extension Texas County and Farm Bureau.  Representing the Extension were Brandi Sutherland, County Engagement Specialist in Nutrition and Health and Eric Meusch, Ag Educator, and John Casey, Texas County Commissioner and Extension Council member. Representing the Farm Bureau was Robert Rouse, Farm Bureau Board member and Extension Council member.
The Sheppard family will be formally recognized at the Missouri State Fair in August along with families from all 114 Missouri counties. The selection process is started by the local Farm Bureau Board of Directors who submit the Farm Family nomination each year based on on-going farming activities and participation in Extension initiatives such as 4-H. The nomination is then approved by the local county extension council.
