5th/6th Northwood Tournament

The end of season tournament for the rural Salem schools and Phelps County R-III fifth and sixth grade basketball was last week at Northwood R-IV School near Salem. PCR3 boys were seeded third and the girls fifth in the five team tournament.
The girls’ first game was the play-in game vs. fourth seed Dent-Phelps R-III. The battle of the R-IIIs ended with Dent-Phelps on top, 20-14, eliminating Phelps from the tournament. Annika Wilson scored 10 pts and Madison Busque 4 pts for PCR3.

The Green Forest R-II Lady Mustangs won the girls bracket of the Northwood Tournament this year.
The PCR3 Cardinals fared better in the tournament. The boys defeated number 2 seed Dent-Phelps in the first game decisively, with a 21-11 score. Five Cardinals contributed to the scoring, Bernie Mace with seven, Kohen Blankenship six, Cody Cullen four, and Austin Arthur and Camran Moore with two each.
  In the final, Oak Hill defeated the Cardinals 22-14. Blankenship led the Cardinals with eight points, and Arthur, Moore and Cullen each added two. The Phelps County boys brought home the second place plaque and the Sportsmanship plaque this year. Coach Davidson said both the boys and girls team did a great job this year.
