Cardinals/Lady Cardinals vs. Oak Hill

Friday, Sept. 6, the Phelps County R-III Cardinals fifth and sixth graders traveled to Oak Hill for their basketball season opener. Both the Lady Cardinals and the Cardinals struggled against the home team, with the Lady Cardinals scoring 11 to Oak Hill’s 17, and with the Cardinals finishing with 13 points to Oak Hill’s 23 in the first game, and 9 points to their 17 in the second game.
For the Lady Cardinals, Annika Wilson led scoring with six points and added three rebounds, six steals and an assist; Sage Parsons had five points with an impressive nine rebounds and six steals; Teagan Lucas added four rebounds; Rose Hickman three rebounds; Madison Busque two rebounds; Cady Lewis one rebound; and Mackenzie Noble and Jordan Wilson each contributed a steal.

In the first game for the Cardinals, Kohen Blankenship led scoring with 11 points and had one rebound; Austin Arthur had two points, one rebound and seven steals; Bernie Mace had four steals; Cody Cullen had three rebounds, a steal and a block; Jacob Light and Chalon Hines each added a rebound; and Camran Moore had a steal.
In the second game, Blankenship again led scoring with four points, one rebound and one block; Robbie James had two points, three rebounds and a steal; Josh Rotherham had two points; Arthur had one point and two rebounds; Moore added three rebounds; Boone Black two rebounds; and Mace, Light, Cullen, Logan Sutton and Evin Morrow each added a rebound to the effort.
