PCR3 Cardinals week in review

The Phelps County R-III Cardinals 5/6 grade basketball teams had a busy week. Monday, Sept. 9, the Cardinals faced Dent-Phelps and lost 14-15 in game one. Austin Arthur and Cody Cullen divided the scoring with 6 apiece, and Kohen Blankenship added 2. Game two was just as close, 4-5, with Evin Morrow scoring for the Cardinals.
The Lady Cardinals’ score was nearly as close, losing 10-12. Annika Wilson was the leading scorer with 8, and Sage Parsons added 2. Dent-Phelps pulled away in Game 2 to an 8-2 victory. Madison Busque was the lone scorer for PCR3.
Sept. 12, the Cardinals scored their first win of the season over Green Forest, 17-10. Blankenship had 7 points, Bernie Mace scored 4, and Arthur, Cullen and Camran Moore had 2 points each. Green Forest won game two, 10-2, with Josh Rotherham scoring for the Cardinals.
The Lady Cardinals came out on the losing end of it, 8-16. Parsons and Wilson divided the scoring equally, with 4 each. The Cardinals won game two, with a score of 2-0 and Busque scored the only points of the game.
The Cardinals faced Northwood on Friday. The boys turned on the scoring, winning 36-11 in game 1. Blankenship led scoring with 10, Arthur had 8, Cullen and Mace added 6, Morrow had 4, and Moore had 2 points. Game two was also a win, 7-6, with Jacob Light scoring 5 points and Mace adding 2.
The Lady Cardinals increased their scoring to 13, but it wasn’t enough against Northwood’s 37 points. Parsons led with 9 points, and Wilson added 4. Game two also went to Northwood, 14-6. PCR3’s Wilson had all 6 points.
