2019 Junior High Cross Country Comes To A Close

By Coach Jennifer Smith

The Licking Junior High Cross Country teams ended their season with a strong showing at their Frisco League Meet on Monday, Oct. 21. Austin James was the Frisco League Champion, taking first place, and was the most valuable runner all season. He also placed first at Mtn. Grove on Oct. 1. The junior high boys pulled out first place wins as a team at West Plains, Plato and Willow Springs, while placing second at Willow Springs Invitational, Mtn. Grove, Mtn. Grove Invitational, and Frisco League. Receiving Frisco League Honors and rounding out the top seven runners allowing success as a team were Austin Stephens, Derek Mendenhall, Garrett Gorman, Levi Stout, Alex Buckner and Kannon Buckner. This group of boys were consistently in the top 20 of each meet. Completing the team with improvement and knocking other teams out of points to give the Wildcats a chance at top 2 teams in each meet were: Aiden Crow, Aaron Decker, Alex Decker, Dominick Donley, Logan Gorman, Jonah Henderson, Lucas Henderson, Logon Lane, Mason Satterfield, Titus Scavone, Logan Stines, Cael Wantland, and Logan Storm. With three of the top seven runners in 7th grade and several close behind them, the Junior High Wildcats look for a strong 2020 season.
On the girls’ side, due to numbers, they only ran as a team in three meets, placing 2nd at Plato and Frisco League. Finley Sullins, Hannah Medlock and Allie Hock received Frisco League honors, placing in the top 15. Team members Makenna Skidmore, Adrian Lewis, and Elexus Burton competed and improved in each meet as well.
So proud of all the Wildcat runners this season!
