The Licking Chamber of Commerce sponsored their annual Motorcycle Toy Run Saturday. Bikers gathered on the east end of the Town and Country Supermarket parking lot Saturday afternoon, showing their big hearts by donating toys to the community.
This year, 22 toys were collected. Twenty riders participated in the run, with 15 bikes starting the run. Mechanical issues resulted in a few riders not completing the run this year. Most made the trip from Licking to Lenox on C Hwy, then through Edgar Springs, Flat and Newburg to Doolittle. The threat of rain limited their break at Cookin’ From Scratch, so they headed back through Newburg then west on Hwy. P to Hwy. J for a ride along the Big Piney River at Spring Creek Eddy. They returned through Flat and Edgar Springs and completed the 90 mile run in around two hours.
Joan Brannam and Suzie Blackburn with the Chamber provided warm sandwiches and chips to the bikers upon their return. If you missed the event this year, be sure to pick up your Chamber event card next year. They are available at any Chamber event and at many businesses. Then mark your calendar for this run for a cause, and collect toys for those who need a little help at Christmas. A big thank you goes out to the bikers who participated.
