People from the Anutt community and the surrounding area gathered together at Anutt Community Church Friday and Saturday to celebrate. The excitement began Friday evening with Dana Wood & Family uplifting the crowd with gospel music, followed by good eats and fellowship.
Saturday’s events began at 11 a.m. and lasted all afternoon. An all day music festival featured the Phelps County Cowboy Church Band, Jerry Rosa’s bluegrass music, the Vichy Choir (from Vichy Assembly of God Church), Wayne Cooper and Friends and a medley to wrap up the singing.
Pioneer skills were demonstrated, including George Bilbrey and his rope making machine, a corn sheller, a corn cracker, a crosscut saw, and a milking station. Charlie Van Dien brought his Clydesdale, Joseph, to the delight of the younger attendees and some of the older ones, as well. A tractor show had many entries, with Farmalls, Fords, Allis Chalmers, John Deeres and more on display, and with votes collected for the favorite. Good food, baked goods, and crafts were available as adults enjoyed the music and fellowship while the children enjoyed the horse, the lawn mower-pulled barrel rides and the playground.
The women of the church made two quilts for the event; one was raffled and the other was the prize for the favorite tractor.
Pastor Doyle Wools thanked the community for gathering together to make the event possible and gave thanks to God for the ability to have the event.
