Beasley is pictured far right in this picture of Friendship School. His wife, Faye (Branson) Beasley, is in the center of the front row in the dress with white buttons. Others he remembers from the front row include Sue and Betty Anderson, Robert Clover, and Bonnie and Betty Merckling.

On Friday morning, Oct. 4, 17 friends and family members joined Verlin on his 90th birthday to walk from the old homeplace where he grew up, along a once familiar route to Friendship School. The trek was recorded by drone for future generations.

The following day more than 100 people showed up at an Open House to help celebrate Verlin’s birthday. Several out of state visitors were among the attendees, including a niece he had not seen since 1956.
