Obituary - Matthew W. Sutton Sr.

Matthew Wayne Sutton Sr., son of Harold Wayne Sutton and the late Carol Ann (Karnes) Sutton, was born February 29, 1972, in O'Fallon, Mo. He died sometime between 10 p.m. October 23, 2019, and 4:30 a.m. October 24, 2019, after being shot by an El Paso, Texas, police officer.
Matt was preceded in death by his mother Carol Ann (Karnes) Sutton, whom he loved and missed very much.
Matt is survived by his eternally loving wife and twin flame, Kimberly Sutton of El Paso, Texas; his daughters Melissa of Missouri; Phoebe of Texas; Ivy, Daphne, and Shelby of Colorado; Maci of Missouri; and four sons, Roman, Matthew, and David of Missouri and Isaiah of Texas; four grandchildren, Maci Jo, Hadlee, Zane, and Jocelynn; and father Wayne. He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matt was united in marriage to Kimberly Sparks on August 13, 2011. They brought to the marriage 10 beautiful children and four glorious grandchildren.
Matt was a generous, ambitious, hard working, dedicated, and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandfather, cousin, and friend. He had a beautiful, infectious smile! He was a determined, passionate, liberal, forward-thinking, conscientious person. He was an adventurer and explorer. He loved the rivers of his home state, Missouri, and the mountains of Colorado where he and Kim spent most of the last four years of his life hiking, camping, and falling deeper in love. Matt will be missed immensely by everyone who knew and loved him.
He would be ecstatic about memorial contributions made to the Missouri Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML)!
