Rough week for PCR3 Lady Cardinals

  Bellview forfeited the first round game, so the Phelps County R-III Lady Cardinals advanced in the Oak Hill Tournament to the semi-final game. In Thursday’s second round game, Steelville overcame the Lady Cardinals 48-15. Tessa Lucas led Cardinals’ scoring with six points, Madison Hamby had three, and Brie Pogue, Lindsey Lucas, Sydney Maisch added two each. This makes their season record 2 wins and 4 losses.
  In the third place game Friday evening, Green Forest faced the Cardinals in a close contest, coming out ahead, 22-16. Madison Hamby led the Lady Cardinals with 10 points, with Lindsey Lucas adding four and Sydney Maisch two. This moved their season record to 2-5.
  Monday evening the Lady Cardinals took on Dent-Phelps and were able to increase their scoring, but still came out on the losing end, 23-44. Three players contributed significantly to the scoring, Madison Hamby with nine, Sydney Maisch with seven and Tessa Lucas with six. Lindsey Lucas also added a point to the effort. The season record dropped to 2-6.
  The boys’ team had no games last week, but played Monday evening against Dent-Phelps. The Cardinals had more success, raising their record to 2-2 with the 56-19 victory. Dent-Phelps was unable to shut down the scoring of Wyatt Wilson or Shawn Black, with Wilson scoring 24 points and Black right behind him at 22 points. Riley Edgar added six and Ryan Hunter 4 points to the win.
The boys also played a B game, which went into overtime. Dent-Phelps eked out the win, 11-10. Their record is also 2-2.

  Thursday, Nov. 21, the boys and girls both play at home against Northwood, with games starting at 5 p.m. Friday, the girls play at home against Dent-Phelps again with game time at 4 p.m.
