7th Grade girls win two

Coach Kaylon Buckner

On Nov. 25, the 7th grade girls traveled to Rolla to take on a strong Bulldog team. The Lady ‘Cats came out rusty and struggled against the opponent’s defense, only scoring eight points to find themselves in a five-point deficit at halftime. Foul trouble for the Lady ‘Cats also contributed to a uncharacteristic first half.
The third quarter was evenly matched and the Bulldog lead stayed at five. The Lady ‘Cats came out strong defensively to start the fourth quarter and Rolla struggled against the pressure. Defense turning into fast breaks and being more aggressive offensively led the Lady ‘Cats to outscore the Bulldogs 11-2 in the fourth and they came away with a 27-23 victory. A balanced scoring performance had eight players scoring, led by Allie Hock’s six points and five points each from Linzie Wallace and Aubrey Gorman.

Another away game on Dec. 2 ended with a overwhelming victory over the Houston Lady Tigers, 56-7. The Lady Cats used their full-court press to take a 20-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Offensively almost every Lady Cat contributed, with 13 by Allie Hock and 11 from Linzie Wallace, Aubrey Gorman and Kinley Keaton both added eight points, Halee and Ralee Clayton scored five each, Zoey Dawson had four and Allie Medlock added two. Josie Wells worked hard on defense, getting several steals and deflections.
