7th grade girls

Coach Kaylon Buckner

The 7th Grade Lady ‘Cats wrapped up a 15-1 season on December 19 with a 61-6 victory over the visiting Lady Bears from Willow Springs. Tough defense from the girls has been their trademark all season and this game was no different, allowing just three field goals the whole game. A full court press led to an early 18-0 lead in the first quarter and the team continued to extend their lead with fast-break layups and drives to the basket in the second and third quarters. Linzie Wallace led the way offensively with 20 points thanks to multiple steals and offensive rebounds. Aubrey Gorman scored 12 points, Ralee Clayton had 11, Allie Hock added 8, Zoey Dawson scored 6  and Kinley Keaton chipped in 4.
The previous week the Lady Cats had racked up two more victories, including one on the road at Waynesville on December 10. A balanced scoring attack had all nine players in the scoring column; Kinley Keaton and Josie Wells each had 11 points, Ralee Clayton scored 10, and Aubrey Gorman, Allie Hock, and Allie Medlock all added 8 points. Linzie Wallace had 7, Zoey Dawson scored 5 and Halee Clayton added 2.
The other victory came at home against Ava on December 13. Jumping out to a 17 point lead in the first quarter again thanks to their full court press, the Lady Cats won easily, 45-7.  Aubrey Gorman set the tone for the team defensively by harassing the Lady Bear’s ball handlers and forcing turnovers. Another game with balanced scoring had almost all girls contributing offensively: Linzie Wallace scored 13, Allie Hock 11, Ralee Clayton 5, Kinley Keaton, Halee Clayton, and Zoey Dawson all added 4 and Josie Wells and Allie Medlock each scored a basket.
