On Dec. 4, 2019, Texas County deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hayes Drive in the Houston area for a report of a domestic assault. A female subject reported being assaulted by a male later identified as Eric Caswell. The female stated an argument began between herself and the male about transportation to check in with their assigned probation and parole officers. While sitting in a parked vehicle, the argument became violent. The female stated Caswell bit her shoulder and produced a knife. The female said Caswell first threatened to harm himself with the knife and then held it to her throat, threatening to kill her. The female stated she was able to exit the vehicle, but Caswell grabbed her and forcibly put her back in the car and choked her. The female said she was able to flee the vehicle a second time and seek shelter in a residence. Caswell was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Texas County Jail. During the booking process for the jail a substance believed to be cocaine was discovered concealed on his person.
Texas County Asst. Prosecuting Attorney Jason Macpherson charged Eric S. Caswell, age 31 of Houston, with Domestic Assault 2nd Degree and Possession/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in a jail. Caswell was held in the Texas County Jail pending $500,000 bond.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
