Obituary - Reverend Gary Allen Carter

Reverend Gary Allen Carter, 65, of Licking, Mo., passed away December 20, 2019. Gary was born on May 12, 1954, in Lexington, Lafayette County, Mo., the son of Francis L. and Doris J. (Hackley) Carter.
Gary was the Pastor for the Licking United Methodist Church for the past four years. Previously he had served as Pastor in St. Joseph, Mo., Kennett, Mo. and several other appointments in Missouri. Gary received a Master’s in Divinity (MDiv) from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo. Gary enjoyed hunting, travelling, reading, listening and playing music, and he loved walking in the woods at his home.
Gary is survived by his wife, Dianne Slagel Carter of Licking, Mo.; daughter, Jennifer Carter of Columbia, Mo.; sons, Cory Carter (wife, Sara) of Mexico, Mo., and Nathan Carter of Columbia, Mo.; brothers, Jeff Carter (wife, Beth) of St. Louis, Mo., David Carter (wife, Teresa) of Williamsburg, Va., and George Carter of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren, Logan Carter and Bryce Carter of Mexico, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Memorial Service for Gary will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Licking United Methodist Church, 208 S. Main St, Licking, Mo.  65542, with Rev. Mike Brown officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in Gary’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Arrangements entrusted to Fox Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at
