LHS Homecoming was celebrated one day earlier than originally scheduled this year due to the threat of icy weather on Friday. Coaches, athletes, parents and supporters joined together to make the adjustment possible and the evening went like clockwork Thursday evening, Jan. 16.
The Lady ‘Cats basketball team started the evening early at 5 p.m., defeating Laquey soundly by a score of 68-16.
Another Frisco League foe, Iberia, came to town to challenge the junior varsity and varsity Wildcats basketball teams. The JV ‘Cats put up a mighty battle, with the crowd cheering them on as they came from behind to tie and take the Rangers into overtime. But despite their best efforts, the Rangers eked out a win; final score Licking 38, Iberia 39.
The homecoming coronation followed the JV game. All LHS graduates were recognized, followed by special mention of the classes with decade reunions this year. The members of the 2000 and 2010 Lady Wildcats and Wildcats basketball teams and cheerleaders were recognized, along with their coaches. Also recognized were the 2000 Homecoming Queen Jessica Cardwell and King Justin Wantland and the 2010 Homecoming Queen Randi McDowell and King Jesse Jones.
