The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship will be held at the local level on Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Licking FEMA gym. Sign-up and practice begins at 12 p.m. and competition starts at 1 p.m. All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are encouraged to participate in this free event, held by age division. Sunday, Jan. 19, is the designated snow day if necessary.
All free throw shooters are recognized at the local level with Council Champion Certificates and trophies are given to the winners.
The local Knights of Columbus Council 12650 with Knights from Licking, Houston and Roby has been sponsoring this annual event for 10 years.
Local competitions have produced district and state competitors. Taylor Dawson was one of three local girls who qualified to go to State finals in the 2011 competition. Dawson took second place in the 10-year-old girl’s division.
