The Wildcat Boys Basketball team finished the week 1-2. On Tuesday we traveled to St James, losing 55-70. The game was a lot closer than the score indicated.
Friday the team faced off with conference opponent Dixon who had beaten us earlier in the year in the Frisco League Tournament. The Wildcats led most of the game but Dixon would make a late charge. They were unable to overcome the double digit deficit from half-time and a Wildcat victory by a score of 66-64 moved us to a 4-1 record in the Frisco League with three conference games yet to play. Blake Payne had an outstanding night for the Wildcats, scoring 29 points to go along with 7 rebounds, both season highs.
On Saturday the team traveled to Springfield to compete in the Hall of Fame Classic game at Baptist Bible College against Class 2, state-ranked East Buchanan. The men would end up falling short by a score of 45-49 after leading most of the game.
We have been playing a lot better as of late, improving both offensively and defensively. Making some adjustments as we move through the season has really helped our team with rebounding and defense. Offensively we are getting better shots and having fewer turnovers as a team.
This week the men will travel to Newburg on Tuesday and finish the week on the road at Richland.
