St Patrick’s Day feast

Meal preparers were kept steadily busy at the St. Pat’s Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner Tuesday.

The Knights of Columbus held their annual St. Pat’s Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 17. They host the fundraising event each year in honor of St. Patrick, in support of the community and to the delight of supporters’ appetites.

Diners enjoyed the company and the food on St. Patrick’s Day.
The meal included substantial portions of delicious corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots, a choice of rye or white bread, which tasted homemade, an assortment of pies, cakes or cookies and a beverage.
The event was a success with over 100 dinners served and additional meals delivered through carry out, which was available. The many who ventured out did not result in a large gathering at any given time.

“The Knights want to thank everyone who supported this event,” said Richard Hofstetter, “The proceeds will go to support the local community through donations made to several existing programs which help the citizens.”
These programs include the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, Sheltered Opportunity Workshop Center, Special Olympics Program of Missouri, South Central Pregnancy Resource Center in Houston, Houston Senior Center, Licking Senior Center, Texas County Food Pantry, Licking United Community Help Center and the Wheelchair Foundation.
