School Lunches
The school is offering free breakfast and lunch combinations to all Licking children 18 years and under. The "Grab-and-Go" meal will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting Monday, March 30. To receive meals, drive in from Maple Street behind the FEMA building, stop at the elementary cafeteria and exit onto College Avenue. Remain in your vehicle and a staff member will approach for a meal count, then deliver meals to you in disposable containers. You must have the children with you in the vehicle to receive meals.
School Board
The election of school board members has been postponed until June 2. Mr. Brad Smith and Mr. Mike Hammond have volunteered to continue in their former positions on the school board until that time when new board members can be elected. The School Board will meet in closed session on April 6 to interview junior high principals and athletic directors. At this time, the regularly scheduled monthly Board meeting on April 13 has not been canceled although it may need to be moved to another location if social distancing orders are still in place. Other measures may need to be taken if gatherings are still limited to 10 or fewer people.
MAP testing
Statewide testing has been canceled for this school year.
School closure
At this time, school is scheduled to resume on April 6. However, health conditions in Texas County and the state will determine whether this changes.
“I would continue to ask community members to stay home as much as possible even though it may appear as though our area is relatively unaffected. We need our students back in school as much as we need our community members to be able to return to work,” said Supt. Cristina Wright.
Currently, school staff still plan to return to work March 30 to prepare lesson plans, complete more disinfecting and plan meals for the following weeks.
