R-VIII School Board Candidate - Jason Stone


Jason Stone was raised in Licking and attended school here. He furthered his education and graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Education is a family tradition in that his father, Don Stone, was a Licking High School American History teacher and a full-time junior high school counselor. Twyla Stone, his mother, was a kindergarten and Title I teacher with the Raymondville school district. He wishes to continue the family tradition with his service on the Licking R-VIII School Board.
His professional career has been in banking and he is currently Senior Loan Officer at Progressive Ozark Bank.
He also serves the community at the Texas County Food Pantry. He is a member of the Lions Club in Houston and attends Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Stone and his wife, Amber, have two daughters, Morgan a fifth grader and Brooklyn, who is in kindergarten.
“I believe education is of utmost importance and I want to see Licking students excel in life. I also have a personal interest since my girls attend school here. I graduated from Licking and want to continue to see it shine in education,” says Stone.
Stone has 18 years in banking and feels that he could bring that financial expertise and good negotiating skills to the table. “I’m good at budgeting and managing money,” he says of his financial background. “I would like to help assist the school allocate their assets to maximize returns and help suggest solutions for financial expenses. I will deal with the facts and offer solutions as an analytical problem-solver.”
