Customer service is important to Rinne’s 19 friendly employees. Owner Mark Rinne is pictured with six of them here. From left, front row: Bailey Green, Ripleigh Sullins, Livy Wade; back row, Mark Rinne, Telena Sellers, Scott James and Kenny Edgar.

On the corner of Maple Street and Highway 137, a steady stream of customers can often be seen entering and exiting Rinne Tire Pros/Fast and Friendly. The business, commonly referred to just as Rinne’s, but not to be confused with the pharmacy, celebrated 42 years of business on May 1.
Bob Rinne moved his family to Licking in the fall of 1966. He worked for his nephews, Don and Vernon Floyd, at Floyd Brothers Oil Co., which was located at the corner of Highway 137 and Old Salem Road, where the parking lot of Fox Funeral Home is now. In April 1969, he rented what had been the Triangle DX service station, at Rinne’s current location. The business was Bob’s DX Service until 1978, when he formed Rinne’s Tire Service, LLC, with his two sons, Mark and Fred. Over the years, changes have been seen. In 1984 two bays were added and in 1986, two more bays were added and one bay was converted to an office for Rinne Tire Pro. The convenience store and car wash were also added at that time.
“Getting to work side-by-side with Dad and my brothers, Fred and Jack (who helped out part-time in the early years),” is an important memory for Mark Rinne, who is the sole owner now. Mark may be the only Rinne working there now, but with four grandchildren and one on the way by daughter Brooke (Rinne) Kuhn and husband Brandon, who live in Licking, who knows what the future may hold? Jaxon, Colin, Logan and Sarah may show an interest at some point. Rinne also has a son, Dane, and Dane’s wife, Tiffany, who live in St. Louis.
Customer service is vital to Rinne. “When you walk through the door, we want you to have good service. Being kind to people, and honest and fair is important.”
Rinne Tire Pros is one of a franchise of 955 Independent Tire Dealers. They offer tire service and road service for cars, light trucks, medium trucks and “on the farm” tractor tire service. They also perform oil changes, replace shocks and struts and do alignments. Their free pickup and delivery service is an added benefit.
The Fast and Friendly convenience store is an important part of life for many high school students. During lunch break when school is in session, many make their way down the hill for pizza, wings, tacos, salads, sandwiches and more.
The pumps available for refueling with Sinclair gas have also seen a change over the years, most notably in numbers. The orientation of the pumps makes entering and exiting easy, despite the limited space.
Whether you need tires, fuel or food, a stop at 243 S. Main St. in Licking can meet your needs. The Tire Pros are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The Fast and Friendly convenience store is open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. The kitchen is open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
