The current pandemic as well as changes in programs have resulted in several modifications to the preparation for school year 2020-2021, which is planned to start on Aug. 25.
The district has applied and anticipates being approved for the Community Eligibility Provision program, which would allow every student to receive free breakfast and lunch. Verification should be received before Open House.
Parents will not be responsible for purchasing school supplies. Preschool through sixth grade will receive supplies courtesy of the Licking PTO, with parents responsible for backpacks and water bottles. Junior high and high school classroom supplies have been donated by Boone Creek Baptist Church. Teachers will notify students of any supplementary supplies needed on the first day of school.
Incoming kindergarten students will be screened at school once the school year begins. Kindergarten applications can be found at www.licking.k12.mo.us or picked up at the elementary office beginning Aug. 3, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Open House/Orientations/Registration will be held the first week of August. In order to reduce crowding, Elementary Open House will be held in two sessions on Thursday, Aug. 6. Families with children’s last names beginning with A-L are scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and last names M-Z will be able to attend from 7-8 p.m.

Families with children whose last names begin with A-L should be at the JH Gym at 5:30 p.m., and last names beginning with M-Z will begin at 6:30 p.m. Students will receive a tour and their schedules. Eighth grade schedules will be mailed to students’ homes in early August.
Registration for high school classes will be divided by class. Seniors will register Tuesday, Aug. 4, 9-11 a.m. Juniors will register that afternoon, 1-3 p.m. The following day, Aug. 5, Sophomores will register from 9 -11 a.m. and Freshmen from 1 – 3 p.m. On Thursday, Aug. 6, new students and those with schedule changes will register from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. or Friday, Aug. 7, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Noon on Friday is the deadline for all schedule change requests.
