The National Barrel Horse Association sponsored a barrel racing event at the Licking rodeo grounds Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22 and 23. Thirty-four entries Saturday evening and thirty-one entries Sunday afternoon made for a weekend full of barrel racing and pole bending.

In the Open Barrel Racing Saturday, Amy Lyber on BB set the fastest time with a 15.674-second run. Leading the Adults was Heather Wilson on Squirt with a run of 16.352-seconds. Rylee Stoutsenbuger on Docs Suprafly Guy led the Youth with a time of 16.219-seconds.

Saturday’s Pole Bending event had five entries. Elizabeth Stephens on Gracie led riders with a 23.778-second run.

The best time for Sunday afternoon’s barrel racing was set in the Youth racing, with a 15.907-second time turned in by Morgan Pogue on Cowboy. Amy Lyber and BB were close behind with a 15.992-second run, the best in the Open and Adult.

Pole Bending had five contestants again on Sunday. Alexis Stogsdill on Dun Got High Jacked won the day with the same time as the Saturday winner, 23.778-seconds.

Cindy Stephens announced the event. After the event she expressed interest in the NBHA returning to Licking, possibly next year. If you like to watch barrel racing and pole bending, follow the Licking Chamber of Commerce next year for the event.
