Vrba found guilty of First Degree Murder

The verdict was announced on August 28 in the trial of Andrew Vrba for the 2017 murder of Joseph Steinfeld, Jr. A bench trial was conducted in Greene County on a change of venue, and Judge Calvin R. Holden found Vrba guilty of First Degree Murder and the Unclassified Felony of Armed Criminal Action.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m.

Vrba is the final defendant in the case to face trial.

Briana Calderas, of Cabool, was sentenced on July 10, 2019, to four years to be served concurrently for the second and third charges, and consecutive to a four year sentence for the first charge, for charges of Abandonment of a Corpse, Concealing a Felony, and Tampering with Physical Evidence in Felony Prosecution.

James Grigsby was sentenced July 3, 2018, to four years for Abandonment of a Corpse.

Isis Schauer was sentenced on Dec. 19, 2017, to 20-years for Murder 2nd Degree and Abandonment of a Corpse.
