Obituary – Helen “June” Mathis

Helen June Mathis, of Edgar Springs, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at the age of 83. She was born in Phelps County, Mo., on July 28, 1937, to the late Daniel and Pearl (Jones) Wilson.

She was united in marriage to Robert Franklin Mathis on December 25, 1954, and they were later blessed with eight children.

June was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a devoted housewife and mother. June looked after several of her grandchildren throughout the years. She cherished the time she had with each one of them.

June loved the outdoors. In her spare time, you could find her camping or fishing with her family. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden. June loved tending to her numerous flowerbeds. She also loved cooking for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and baby brother, Danny boy, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, an infant granddaughter and an infant great-grandson.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Robert Daniel Mathis and wife, Evelyn, of Edgar Springs, Franklin Keith Mathis and wife, Patty, of Rolla, Len Sterling Mathis and wife, Cheryl and Pamela June Dye and husband, Ralph, all of Edgar Springs, Marla Kay Smith and husband, Dave and Darla Mae Heaven and husband, Dave, all of Rolla, Brian Lee Mathis and Kevin Jarvis Mathis and wife, Avery, all of Edgar Springs; one sister, Sharon Harris and husband, Jerald of Edgar Springs; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service for June Mathis will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Pastor Bobby Mathis and June’s grandson, Ethan, will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Edgar Springs. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Southeast Missouri Transportation Service (SMTS) in Rolla.

**A Special Note From June’s Family**

Thank you to everyone who helped Nanny recently. We all appreciate the time put into making her final moments comfortable. There was a special place in her heart for each and every one of you. We will all miss her deeply.
