It’s Rodeo time – Outlaw/5J Rodeo Company

It’s Rodeo time! Friday and Saturday mark the 38th Annual Licking Chamber of Commerce Rodeo. This year’s rodeo company is the Outlaw/5J Rodeo Company, owned and operated by Lance and Joey McCollum and family.

Lance McCollum was raised in a rodeo family and started bull riding in 1992. He competed in the PRCA, MRCA, URA, NFPB, and several other associations, and was named Bullfighter of the Year three times.

Lance and his wife, Joey, along with the rest of the McCollum family, started 5J Rodeo Company in 1998, beginning with bucking horses, but soon expanding to rodeo horses and bulls. Lance also began working as a pickup man.

While fighting bulls and picking up for Outlaw Rodeo Productions in 2001, Lance and Joey jumped on the opportunity to partner with the company. Outlaw Rodeo took care of the production, paperwork and PR side of business, while 5J Rodeo Company provided arena setup, professional personnel and award-winning livestock.

When the owners of Outlaw Rodeo Productions retired in 2015, 5J Rodeo purchased their side of the business. Now Outlaw/5J Rodeo Company is a true family affair. Lance picks up broncs. Joey is the secretary. Oldest daughter, Kacey, carries flags and coordinates opening ceremonies. Youngest daughter, Emma, times. Lance’s brother, Jeff, is the flank man running the bucking chutes, with the assistance of his son, Jate. Lance’s nephew, Jackson, fights bulls. Nanny Linda oversees them all!

Come out this weekend and welcome the McCollums and their Outlaw/5J Rodeo Production to the 38th Annual Licking Chamber of Commerce Rodeo.
